Vukodlaks are cursed werewolf-like monsters born when a woman is cursed with lycanthropy, but her child is cursed instead. Human mothers are unable to carry out such monstrous pregnancies, so they die just before they are meant to give birth to a child. In a coffin birth-like situation, the mother's decomposing corpse expels the cursed child. Like a Striga's curse, a Vukodlak is instinctually compelled to return to its tomb before sunrise.
The Curse of the Vukodlak[]
The Curse of the Vukodlak is a mutation of the Lycanthropy Curse, as it transferred to a secondary party its effects differed, while resting in its tomb a Vukodlak is invulnerable and can heal itself from any injury, as such it is important whether breaking the curse or killing the creature to not let it back into its grave.
Breaking the Curse[]
If a Vukodlak is prevented from returning to its tomb before sunrise there is a chance that the curse will be broken turning it into a human.
Physiology[]
A Vukodlak resembles a werewolf with black fur, they are slightly bigger and bulkier than a standard werewolf with a dark aura surrounding them that makes them harder to detect in the dark from which they hunt.

- The Wolf witcher Remus mistakenly thought he was hunting a Vukodlak during a contract for a Striga, not being properly prepared got him killed.

- The werewolf species known as a Vukodlak is mentioned in the Witcher Netflix series, however as no other information is given for it, this reimagining of a Vukodlak is a pure fanon creation as such there is no official proof of his existence in the Witcher works outside the fanon community other than a name mention in the aforementioned series.
