Lifecycle[]

  1. Hag Child: Night Hag children are practically impossible to tell from a human child until their 13th birthday if their hag mother has the child participate in a dark ritual once every week until their 13th birthday otherwise they remain human for the rest of their lives.
  2. Hag: From the moment of the completion of their ritual on their 13th birthday, a Night Hag comes into existence. This new Hag is not too strong nor too powerful yet. It is at this point the Hag will join the coven of their mother they will stay in this coven unless forced out until they reach Grandmother status.
  3. Auntie: An elder hag between the adulthood of a Hag and the power of a Grandma usually serves as the subordinate to a Grandmother.
  4. Grandmother: Ancient and the most powerful a hag will be is if she lives to be a Grandma. Grandmas are usually coven leaders or they'll leave a coven to start one so that they can be the leader.

Behaviors[]

Lairing[]

Night hags make their dwellings in strategically chosen locales; small caves and hollows, abandoned mines, forested ruins, lone crags, and other grim, isolated spots nearby secluded towns. Either by the traps surrounding the area around a lair, their Foglet minions posted around them, or by coming across them on their own, night hags are typically alerted about the presence of intruders and do not take to them kindly.

Predation[]

Night Hags eat human flesh but can feed off of nightmares as well, they actually prefer the taste of nightmares. They view children as both a delicacy and a resource to be used.

Reproduction[]

Should the hag need a few more subordinates, and lack access to a male Night Hag AKA a Scurver, they'll kidnap a newborn baby (usually female) eat it, and produce an identical hag child to return to human parents to raise for a while then ruin their lives to have the child exiled making the child an easy target to take in and expand their covens. Hag children if they live past their 13th birthday without a weekly dark ritual from their mother never become hags instead they stay as normal humans. Many hag children actually live past their 13th birthdays without being transformed. They will live their lives with no knowledge of their lineage, ignored by their hag parent who didn't feel the need to follow through on the rituals. If the child is male and participates in all the required rituals they become a Scurver, serving as part of the traditional mating pool as well as servants for the coven.
