Nemet also known as Saskia's Free State is a republic in the Far North / Far East.

Its name is in honor of Nemet, a dwarf who gave Saskia the idea of refounding her state in the territories of the Far North.

Geography 

Nemet is a territory with a much colder climate than in Kovir or Vinland. Full of hemiboreal forests. Its northern border is with the Tuathasgia Mountains, which they've been trying to annex for years.

Its main export are the minerals extracted from the mines by the dwarfs who emigrated there fleeing from the Northern Kingdoms. With which they trade with the rest of the Far North in exchange for other raw materials.

To the south borders several tribes and the kingdom of Sweland. To the east with Gotland and to the west with Gwaelod.

History 

Origins in the Northen Kingdoms

The original Saskia's Free State was a state in Upper Aedirn created by Saskia. Theoretically, a country without prejudice. Being tolerant of all nations and races, elves, humans, mages, and even trolls could live side by side, as was Saskia's vision.

However, the Lodge had different plans for the Free State and planned to take over the country and use it for their own purposes. The leaders of this nation were to become Philippa Eilhart and Sheala de Tancarville but after the events of the summit at Loc Muinne, Nilfgaard defeats Vergen, their defiant city is razed to the ground and Saskia, with Geralt's help, flees the city after the death of Barclay Els. After losing the battle with the Nilfgaardians, the territory is merged with the province Aedirn.

Refundation in the Far North

A year after the war, approximately, after losing her territory and leading a few followers, among them, Nemet a dwarf, who suggested starting her state in a new place, away from all conflict, suggesting the Far North. Saskia decided it was a good idea to try her Free State a second time and taking into account the dwarf's advice, she and more people marched north in search of a new territory in which to create their country in peace.

They were travelling, getting to know the area and looking for the ideal place until in the spring of that same year, they decided to settle in the area that would be known as Nemet, after the dwarf who suggested the idea to Saskia died of hypothermia. Saskia would honor him by naming the new country after him.

The principles of the country were costly, especially because according to the emissaries sent by her, nobody wanted to go to such a cold and distant territory, but that would change after the minerals that the dwarfs found there, which they began to extract and would give prosperity to the nation. In addition to the union of people from different tribes, after several attacks Saskia showed its true form and they began to consider a kind of goddess.

Later, the nation would begin to grow when from the beginning of the Witch Hunts many sorcerers and non-humans sought a safe place in which to live. Since Kovir, due to the presence of the religion of the Eternal Fire, did not finish convincing them.

Many vinland sorcerers also came to Nemet because of the famous Vinkald Trials, an event similar to the Witchs Hunts that took place in the duchy during that time.

• This "new" state was created one year after the invasion of Nilfgaard.
• Many people migrated to the state of Saskia, especially non-humans, since the Witch Hunts.
• Some of the notable people have surnames that refer to witch-hunt victims of our world.
• The Vinkald Trials are based in the Salem Trials.
• Some vrans tried to join the state of Saskia and leave the reservations, but the climatic conditions of the new state prevented them from doing so.
• By the autumn of 1287, Nemet would suffer from several monster attacks of which Putnam Pitch, belonging to Fabio Sachs' expedition to the Far North, would take charge. Some of these monsters were the following : Ijiraq, keelut, akhlut and kigatilik.
