Many tales are told about "metallic" counterparts to common dragons. A bronze dragon, covered in shiny bronze scales and greenish or blueish patterns on wings, would seem to be either a close relative or a mutation of blue dragon with a similar ability to exhale lightning charges. They occur in different areas though, as bronze dragons love water and would be easily bored in arid desert regions.
Like any other metallically shining dragon, bronze dragon is able to take shape of any other animal. However, while golden dragons are typically fond of impersonating adventurous paladins or noble animals and silver dragons most often choose wise scholars and sages, perfect matches for the bronzes are either bearded barbarians or ferocious beasts. Belligerent nature of bronze dragons drives them to combat and battlefields. One of gladiators on Nilfgaardian arena could be easily a bronze dragon specimen. A huge black bear fighting a wolf pack. A cruel pirate threatening merchant vessels. And so on, and so on.
In the 14th century, the ruling line of Khagans of the Haaks claimed to be descendants of a bronze dragon in human form. This reason allowed Hakland to conquer Zerrikania, since a fraction of dragon priestesses decided to follow the Khagan.
